Specialized diagnosis of vector-borne diseases
Science-based diagnosis. Patient-centered care.

What is Lyme disease?
Lyme disease is a vector-borne infectious disease, caused primarily by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi. Traditionally, its main route of transmission to humans is through the bite of infected ticks; however, multiple scientific studies have indicated that other blood-feeding insects, such as fleas, lice, mosquitoes, and certain biting flies, may also act as potential vectors of Borrelia species, expanding the epidemiological scope of these infections.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the most common early symptoms include fever, extreme fatigue, headache, muscle and joint pain, and in some cases a characteristic skin rash known as erythema migrans. If Lyme disease is not detected and treated in a timely manner, it may progress and affect the joints, the nervous system, and the heart, making an early, accurate, and well-supported diagnosis essential for appropriate medical care.
At LITLAB DX, we are a multidisciplinary team of scientific and clinical specialists collaborating closely between Finland and Mexico to strengthen the clinical diagnosis of vector-borne diseases, particularly those associated with tick bites. Our work is supported by a scientific alliance with Tezted Oy (Finland), a biotechnology company recognized for developing advanced diagnostic platforms such as TICKPLEX®, designed for the comprehensive detection of complex tick-borne infections. This collaboration allows us to implement standardized, validated, and strictly controlled diagnostic procedures, aligned with good laboratory practices, ensuring reliable, reproducible, and clinically relevant results. Our commitment is to offer dignified, accessible, and high-quality diagnoses that are patient-centered and useful for medical decision-making.
